Leeds United will need to improve if they are to secure promotion, as they suffered defeat at the hands of fellow promotion challengers Norwich City yesterday.
The Whites failed to bring in Daniel James during the January transfer window, so Marcelo Bielsa will have to make do with the attacking players currently at his disposal.
However, this month could turn out to be a decisive one for the Yorkshire club, with their automatic promotion hopes on the line. Indeed, a mixture of difficult fixtures and a drop in quality could prove to be the Whites’ downfall.
So, with things possibly going horribly wrong, here is the nightmare January for Leeds United…
DROP OUT OF AUTOMATIC PLACES
Leeds United looked helpless against Norwich City last time out, so there’s still a lot of work to be done with February possibly proving to be one of their most difficult months yet.
The Yorkshire club will need to be at their best this month in the Championship, as the likes of Boro, Swansea, Bolton and QPR will all provide a tough test.
So, the worst case scenario would be that Leeds United end up dropping out of the automatic places, with a run of disappointing results helping the clubs below them gain ground.
KEMAR ROOFE’S GOALS DRY UP
Kemar Roofe has been the standout performer in the current campaign with an impressive 14 goals to his name. However, he hasn’t found the back of the net in his last three Championship appearances.
The Englishman has been the main source of goals for the Leeds up until this point, so the Whites could soon find themselves struggling to produce positive results if the forward’s goals dry up in the month of February.
