Leeds United fans currently find themselves in dreamland as they continue to edge closer towards securing promotion to the Premier League, with Marcelo Bielsa and his men constantly working wonders in the Championship.
Indeed, the next step for the Whites would be to look towards the summer transfer window, with the opportunity to strengthen ahead of a possible return to the top-flight.
Interestingly, Leeds United will reportedly (as per Aftonbladet, via Yorkshire Evening Post) rival West Ham United in pursuit for Malmo’s Amel Mujanic. The 17-year-old is a very promising defensive midfielder who has plenty of potential and could go on to achieve big things, so it comes as no surprise that Leeds are interested.
With that being said, here are the potential consequences of a summer move for Mujanic…
MARCEL BIELSA RULES OUT MOVE FOR ANDER ITURRASPE
Indeed, the Spaniard operates at the heart of the midfield, which is exactly the same position as Mujanic operates in, so it’s unlikely that Leeds will look to bring in two players in the same position.
Also, Iturraspe is already 30, so moving for a younger player makes more sense, especially after witnessing Jack Clarke’s rise to stardom in the current campaign.
KALVIN PHILLIPS WORRIED
Kalvin Phillips has been one of the standout performers for the Whites in the current campaign as a defensive rock at the heart of the midfield. The Englishman has saved the Whites on a number of occasions and he constantly puts them in the right areas, with his passing, tackling and vision making him a well-rounded defensive midfielder.
Although, Mujanic moving to Leeds could make Phillips worry slightly as they operate in the same position and Marcelo Bielsa has given a number of youth players an opportunity in the current campaign, so he could face competition for his place both in the present and the future.
Leeds United fans, do you think Mujanic could become the next big thing at Elland Road?
