Leeds United fans must be in dreamland after witnessing their side’s last performance and Sheffield United’s defeat at the hands of Bristol City, as the Whites now find themselves in the top two.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side showed great spirit at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon which should give his side the confidence to kick on and secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.
And, to make things even better, the South American boss received a boost on the transfer front recently, as according to Football Insider, Stefan Johansen is to quit Fulham amid interest from Leeds United.
Therefore, with the Norway international possibly rocking up at Elland Road in the summer, here are the potential consequences…
MARCELO BIELSA SECURES SAMU SAIZ REPLACEMENT
Samu Saiz’s Leeds United career has gone downhill after establishing himself as a star in the Championship last season. He’s currently on loan at Spanish side Getafe and he’s reportedly (as per El Gol) attracting interest from Valencia ahead of the summer transfer window, so he may get his wish to leave Elland Road.
Stefan Johansen can play anywhere centrally in midfield and he was used in an attacking midfield role for large parts of Fulham’s promotion-winning campaign, so it’s clear to see he can have an influence in the final third. He produced eight goals and nine assists last season, so he could be the man to finally replace Samu Saiz.
TYLER ROBERTS FEARFUL
Tyler Roberts has been loving life in his newly-found attacking midfield role as he continues to play a monumental part in Leeds’ push for promotion to the Premier League.
However, the Whites usually operate with Kalvin Phillips holding and Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts in the middle, so Johansen’s potential arrival could push someone out of the starting lineup.
Of course, it would be impossible to drop Klich as he’s been one of Leeds’ best players this season, so Roberts may be fearful that his permanent position in the side could come under threat if Johansen was to join.
