Leeds United fans will be praying that their side can get the job done against Aston Villa tomorrow as they’re currently on a two-game losing streak in the Championship.
The Whites have let themselves down in recent times which has resulted in Sheffield United gaining the upper-hand in the race for automatic promotion, with just two games left for Marcelo Bielsa’s side to play
Interestingly, it looks as if the Yorkshire club already have their eye on the summer, as according to L’Equipe, Leeds United are interested in signing Brentford’s Yoann Barbet.
Barbet is set to become a free agent in the summer transfer window and he’s been one of the shining lights this season, so here are the potential consequences of Leeds signing him this summer…
BIELSA SIGNS PERFECT PONTUS JANSSON PARTNER
Pontus Jansson has been excellent in the current campaign having played a big part in Leeds United’s promotion push up until this point, but you can’t help but feel that he needs a better partner.
Indeed, Yoann Barbet could just be the perfect partner for the Sweden international as he’s established himself as one of the best defenders in the Championship this season. He’s calm in possession, strong in the tackle, always ensures defensive solidity and he’s dangerous from set-pieces.
He looks more than ready for the Premier League if that’s where Leeds end up.
LIAM COOPER WORRIED
Liam Cooper was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year recently, which may have come as some surprise to supporters as he’s not exactly been out of this world this season. He’s struggled against some of the more quality attackers and it remains to be seen as to whether he’s ready to step up to the Premier League.
Barbet rocking up at Elland Road would definitely worry the Leeds captain as he’s more likely to be sacrificed if Marcelo Bielsa has to decide between dropping him and Jansson, with the Brentford man offering so much more.
