Leeds fans must have been shocked to see Samu Saiz go from hero to zero at Elland Road, but things have changed since the January transfer window with Tyler Roberts establishing himself as an unlikely hero in his newly-found attacking midfield role at this moment time.
The Whites signed Samu Saiz from Spanish side SD Huesca back in the summer of 2017, and he made a name for himself at Elland Road by producing an impressive nine goals and eight assists during his first season. But, things have gone downhill for him since Marcelo Bielsa took charge as he now finds himself on loan at Getafe.
Interestingly, it doesn’t look as if fans will get to witness him in action at Elland Road in the future, which may not be a bad thing in the eyes of many, as according to TEAMtalk, Samu Saiz will try and secure a move elsewhere in La Liga in the summer if Getafe decide against signing him permanently.
Samu Saiz appears to be desperate to secure a permanent move to Spain, so here are the potential consequences of the Spaniard departing in the summer transfer window…
BIELSA SECURES ATTACKING MIDFIELDER
Supporters will be loving what Tyler Roberts is producing in the attacking midfield role at this moment in times as he continues to aid their promotion push, with three assists in his last three Championship games.
But, it’s safe to say that Marcelo Bielsa could still secure the services of an attacking midfielder in the summer transfer window as they’re currently light on options in that area, and Roberts isn’t a naturally creative player so it’s important that Bielsa brings in someone more suited, especially if they’re preparing for Premier League football.
TYLER ROBERTS DELIGHTED
On the other side of things, Roberts may be delighted to see the attacking midfielder go in terms of what it may mean for his own future as he wouldn’t have to worry about the Spaniard potentially taking his place.
Indeed, the youngster has established himself as one of Leeds United’s rising stars in his newly-found position and he even managed to scoop the man of the match award against West Bromwich Albion recently, so the future is looking bright for the Englishman.
Leeds fans, would you like to see Saiz back at Elland Road? Surely Roberts is the better option…
