Potential transfer blow for Leeds United despite willingness to move for 23-year-old

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed with the way the season has gone this year and will be expecting changes in the summer.

The Whites look to be heading for a mid-table finish after starting the Championship campaign in fine fashion, however, their first defeat sent them into a downward spiral that continued for a number of months.

The locals have been critical of a number of their players at times on social media, although they will want to keep hold of a number of them, including Matthew Pennington according to a report by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

It has been claimed that the Elland Road outfit have been impressed with the limited appearances the Everton loanee has made, due to injuries, however, it is believed they could find it difficult to strike a deal as the Premier League side are keen to extend his deal.

Landlord’s Verdict

The locals in the Tavern will want the club to invest in a number of players during the summer transfer window and Pennington would be considered a good acquisition for the Whites. The 23-year-old already knows Elland Road and how the team wants to play, whilst despite the Toffees wanting to offer him a new deal, he would likely get regular first-team football in the Championship than the Premier League.
