Potential triple boost for Leeds United ahead of Yorkshire derby

Leeds United fans here in the Tavern are desperate for their side to earn the bragging rights later on today, as Paul Heckingbottom will welcome his former club Barnsley to Elland Road.

Sadly, the Whites haven’t enjoyed the best of seasons as they continue to search for consistency, having secured only one victory in their last nine Championship fixtures. Although, supporters received a huge boost ahead of kick-off at Elland Road, as according to Sky Sports’ pre-match team news, Pontus Jansson, Adam Forshaw and Liam Cooper could all be included in the squad.

Indeed, Pontus Jansson has been influential in the current campaign but missed last week’s loss to Aston Villa with a concussion, and could feature later on today against Barnsley after returning to training.

Also, club captain Liam Cooper has missed Leeds’ last seven Championship matches due to a leg injury, but could return to contention after taking part in training this week.

Lastly, Adam Forshaw has been sidelined for five games with a calf problem after enjoying an impressive start to life at Elland Road, but he could also return to the squad in what could be a triple injury boost for the Whites.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Leeds United will be delighted to see these three players back in contention for tomorrow’s game against Barnsley, as arguably three of the club’s most important players. And, with the Yorkshire derby up next against Paul Heckingbottom’s former club, Forshaw, Jansson and Cooper could all play a massive part in securing three points.
