The Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating the Carabao Cup win over Burnley!
Indeed, our local Whites genuinely believe this could be their best season in years and the good news has continued today with confirmation from the club that Conor Shaughnessy had penned a new four-year deal with the club.
The 21-year-old is a popular figure in our bar, having risen through the ranks at Elland Road and one man to have watched the Irishman’s development has delivered the verdict on him.
Talking to the club’s official website, academy manager Adam Underwood has expressed his delight at seeing Shaughnessy extend his deal, becoming the latest in the long line of talented youngsters to make the first-team.
“I’m delighted for Conor, he is a hardworking, talented and versatile footballer who has an excellent attitude and work ethic”, he said.
”He impressed everyone at the academy from his first trial period at the club around a year ago and in the space of 12 months he has established himself with our U23s and moved up to represent the first team.
“I’m pleased that Victor and Thomas have seen enough to secure his long term future.”
The likes of Kavlin Philipps, Lewis Cook and Sam Byram have all enjoyed strong careers thus far and the punters propping up our bar are delighted about the fact Leeds continue to develop players.
Good news gets better for Leeds United. Their strong academy shows no signs of letting up and the fact Shaughnessy has seen fit to extend his stay only hints at more upward moving for the club.
