Leeds United will fancy themselves in the race for the Championship title as they’ve been rather impressive throughout the current campaign.
The Whites are finally on course to secure promotion to the Premier League, which will be sure to excite supporters.
Indeed, the Yorkshire club have been linked with a number of January transfer window moves but the majority of them have gone silent in recent times. It’s safe to say that securing particular players earlier on this month would have definitely made things easier for the Whites.
Of course, if injuries weren’t a thing and transfer business was completed differently up until this point in the January transfer window, Marcelo Bielsa’s side would look so much stronger right now.
Therefore, this is the Leeds United XI Bielsa should have built…
THE LEEDS UNITED XI BIELSA SHOULD HAVE BUILT
Bailey Peacock-Farrell has been very impressive in recent times and he will continue to help the Whites push for promotion, but Leeds’ pursuit of Karl Darlow, who was linked (as per the Yorkshire Evening Post) with a move to Elland Road, has gone silent as they opted to sign Kiko Casilla. Darlow would have provided Peacock-Farrell with great competition and he has previous experience in the Championship having secured promotion with Newcastle, so his presence and knowledge could have been invaluable in the second half of the season.
Leeds have been pretty solid this season so there was no reason to make any changes to the starting defensive line, other than bringing in back-up cover.
The Whites should have gone all out to bring in Ibai Gomez prior to his move to Athletic Bilbao, as they were linked (as per AS, via TalkSport) with a move, and the winger has since stated that Leeds wanted him. His skill, pace, creativity and dribbling ability would have provided Leeds with the perfect replacement for Samu Saiz.
Kemar Roofe will continue to lead the line for Leeds as one of the most prolific forwards in the Championship.
