Leeds United fell at the final few hurdles in the Championship promotion race after occupying a playoff spot for the majority of the season under Garry Monk.
The Whites were understandably gutted about how the season ended up finishing, but ultimately, there were plenty of positives to take from the former Swansea manager’s first season in charge.
Our landlord has been spending some time with the Leeds fans this week while they’ve been having their end of season catch up here in the Tavern, and talk has already turned to how they can improve in the summer.
One player our landlord dropped into conversation was Scottish international and former Everton striker Steven Naismith, who has recently been released by Norwich City only a year after a big money move, and is valued still at £5.1m by Transfermarkt.
The tricky little front man could well be a bargain for any potential suitors, and there is no doubt he still has Premier League quality in the tank, something which Leeds could benefit from.
Naismith has bags of top level experience and class, and looks the ideal sort of signing Leeds should be making an effort to sign.
If the Scot can rediscover his best form which saw him in superb nick for Everton a few seasons ago, then he could well prove the difference between Leeds winning promotion and falling short once more next year.
Leeds fans, what do you think? Would you take Naismith? Let us know in the comments!
