Leeds United head into another campaign in the Championship having just missed out on the playoff positions last season under now departed manager Garry Monk.
Now, under the stewardship of Thomas Christiansen, the Whites will be hoping to go one step further and seal a top six spot, giving them that all important chance of making it into the Premier League once again.
The Leeds fans here in the Tavern have long been some of our most loyal visitors, and they have been coming in their droves this week, meaning a busy old week for landlord on all fronts.
However, he has managed to have a good few chats with their fans over some games of pool, and talk has turned to the rest of the transfer window and who the club might look to bring in.
One player he thinks could do a job and come in from the cold so to speak, is former England man Micah Richards.
The powerful defender has seen his career stall somewhat since a move to Aston Villa, and he spent much of last season injured following Steve Bruce’s appointment as manager at Villa Park.
However, he is now back to fitness, and a move could well the best thing for him at this stage of his career. He has never quite settled at Villa, and Leeds will be on the lookout for a new defender following the loss of Kyle Bartley.
Richards has always been a good footballer, he just needs the right environment, and he could well thrive under the management of Christiansen, as well as being able to play in front of the passionate Elland Road crowd week in week out.
