Sheffield United currently find themselves sitting inside the automatic promotion places, while Leeds United are breathing down their neck in third position.
The Blades will be desperate to go all the way this season having come so far under Chris Wilder, with promotion to the Premier League being an incredible achievement. Meanwhile, the Whites have been one of the dominant forces in the Championship all season, so they’ll accept nothing less than promotion.
Sheffield United purchased Billy Sharp from Leeds United back in 2015 and he’s surpassed Kemar Roofe in the Championship this season, so we took a look at Sharp and Kemar Roofe’s influence at their respective clubs.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
Sheffield United signed Billy Sharp from Leeds United for an undisclosed fee back in 2015.
It’s safe to say that the forward has been one of the standout performers in the Championship in the current campaign as he continues to shine at Bramall Lane, with an incredible 22 goals to his name at this moment in time.
Sheffield United will be relying on the experienced striker to spearhead their automatic promotion push from here on in, with plenty more goals to come.
TT GRADE: A
Kemar Roofe established himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in the Championship during the first half of the season, but he’s struggled to ensure consistency in front of goal in recent times.
Indeed, the Englishman currently has 14 goals to his name this season and will play a big part from here on in, but one worry that supporters will have is whether he can rediscover his form.
TT GRADE: A-
When comparing these two, it’s safe to say that Billy Sharp has been superior up until this point in the current campaign as he continues to find the back of the net, which has been a struggle for Roofe recently.
So, the Whites handed Billy Sharp to the Blades back in 2015 and he’s currently damaging Marcelo Bielsa’s promotion hopes as he continues to help Sheffield United grind out positive results. Of course, Leeds won’t regret selling the experienced forward, but they’ll definitely be hoping that Roofe gets back to his dominant best.
