Leeds United will be aiming to get their promotion dreams back on track on Saturday when they head to Pride Park to face Derby County in the first leg of their play-off semi-final.
With preparation for the clash being far from ideal following defeats to Ipswich Town, Wigan Athletic and Brentford in recent weeks, the Whites will be hoping that they can replicate the performances which saw them defeat the Rams twice in the regular season.
In contrast to their opponents, Derby will be entering the fixture brimming with confidence having secured their place in the play-offs last week with a hugely impressive 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion.
Following the spy-gate debacle which created headlines around the world earlier this year, Frank Lampard’s side will be wanting to get their revenge on Leeds in what is certain to be an enthralling spectacle.
With the outcome of the first-leg expected to be decided by who can dominate proceedings in the wide areas, it will be intriguing to see whether Jack Harrison or Tom Lawrence will come out on top at the weekend.
Although both midfielders boast considerable attacking qualities, the battle below will reveal who is the better player.
Currently on loan at Leeds from the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, Harrison has experienced an inconsistent year at Elland Road which has seen him drift in and out of form in the Championship.
Whereas he has proved to be a fantastic weapon for Bielsa when at his very best, a lack of composure in the final third has resulted in him scoring just two goals in 37 league games.
If Harrison is to convince the Whites to consider a permanent move in the summer, he simply has to deliver against the Rams in his side’s most important fixture of the season.
TT GRADE: C+
Since joining Derby County from Leicester City in 2017, Tom Lawrence has developed into one of the Championship’s most feared players as when on top form, he is almost unplayable.
Having made a positive start to the current campaign for the Rams by scoring three goals in his first five games, the £4.5m-rated ace (via Transfermarkt) experienced somewhat of a slump in October and November as he failed to provide the necessary impact for his side.
However, following a long period of absence due to injury, Lawrence has experienced a renaissance in recent weeks with the quality of his performances being a key reason why Derby managed to edge out Middlesbrough for the final play-off spot.
TT GRADE: B+
Despite the fact that both players are more than capable of producing the spectacular when playing at their very best, if you had to pick between them, the obvious choice would be to select Lawrence.
Not only has the Derby star scored more goals than Harrison this season (6) but he also provided his team-mates with more assists (3).
With the play-offs almost always settled by the finest of margins, by having Lawrence in his ranks, Lampard will be confident of delivering a decisive blow in his side’s clash with Leeds on Saturday.
