TT Battle: Kasey Palmer vs Izzy Brown

Bristol City and Leeds United will go head-to-head on Saturday with both sets of supporters wanting their club’s to keep their promotion aims alive.

Both sides will have Chelsea loanees in their ranks, with Kasey Palmer and Izzy Brown, although the pair have had rather contrasting seasons away from their parent club.

With that in mind, we take a look at the duo in detail and compare what they can offer to their respective side as they continue their push for Premier League football next season.

Kasey Palmer

Palmer may have only joined up with the Ashton Gate outfit in January after a disappointing loan spell with Blackburn Rovers in the first half of the campaign, but it appears he may have done enough for The Robins to want him permanently, per The Sun.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who allegedly could cost them a fee of around £4million, has been putting in a number of impressive performances for Lee Johnson’s side as they continue their charge up the Championship table and occupy an unlikely playoff spot.

Palmer is no stranger to England’s second tier, having had spells with Huddersfield Town and Derby County before, where he also enjoyed plenty of match time and continued to develop his skills as an exciting prospect.

Still only used as a substitute in Johnson’s side, it is likely that he will play a more prominent role for The Robins in the remainder of the season and if they do sign him permanently, he could become a really important asset for the Ashton Gate outfit in the future.

Izzy Brown

Brown may have joined Leeds in the summer, however, it is only recently that he has been available for Marcelo Bielsa to select following his troubling injury, although it does not appear as though he has managed to convince his manager just yet.

The 22-year-old, who at this present moment looks set to return to Chelsea at the end of the season, has been on the four times since the turn of February but is yet to make it on the pitch for The Whites, which raises some real concern.

Whether it is because the player has had a number of injury issues in recent years, with the cruciate ligament rupture being shortly followed by a hamstring injury, being the reason as to why he has not been used, or whether he just has not been able to impress in the limited training sessions he has had remains to be seen.

Brown has impressed in the Championship before with a spell at Huddersfield and then playing Premier League football for Brighton and Hove Albion last season before his season-ending knee injury.

The Verdict:

As mentioned, the career paths of the Chelsea duo certainly appear to be heading in different directions. Palmer appears to be enjoying life in Bristol, whilst Brown’s nightmares continue to rumble on in Yorkshire.

The pair, who are both still only 22-years-old, are expected to have bright futures in the game as they have both represented England at youth levels, however, one man appears to be making inroads into his professional career a little quicker than the other.

For that reason, Palmer wins this battle between the Chelsea loanees.
