These men will be key, won’t they? When Leeds United host Derby County in the second leg of the play-off semi-final on tonight, two men who both operate in the right-midfield role will want to make their impact on the game be known.
Both Pablo Hernandez and Harry Wilson started the first leg and will be looking to make their presence felt more so in the decisive second leg. Given that both players have been crucial to their sides successes as of yet, they must be on top of their games on Wednesday night.
With that being said, let’s take a look at who could come out on top out of the pair…
Hernandez was surprisingly left out of the EFL’s Championship Team of the Season, having netted 12 times and provided 12 assists across the 39 games he played in the league.
The Spaniard’s impact is not all statistics based either, as he has brought the best out of his teammates and performed his role so impeccably, that has enabled Bielsa’s philosophy to be even more so effective at Elland Road.
Having had a stellar season, he will be wanting to add a date at Wembley for the United faithful which is on the cards if his side can inspire a victory.
Wilson has excelled in his first full season in senior football having occupied the right-wing, or even the number 10 role at times for the Rams. It seems tonight he will feature on the right, though, as he looks to make Stuart Dallas’ 90 minutes against him, or potentially longer, as tough as it can be.
The 22-year-old has netted a remarkable 15 times, along with providing three assists in the Championship this season and having stepped up in big games already this season, it would come as no surprise to see him do so yet again.
Both players look set to have the most joy coming infield from the right-wing and operating in the pockets of space found on their side and given that the game will be of an open nature, this should very well be the case tonight.
With Derby needing to chase the game, that may allow Hernandez more opportunities getting forward and give him more licence to attack. In that case, it does lean it Hernandez’s favour to come out on top and make his impact on the game be know. Even still, Leeds must look to nullify Wilson at all opportunities as he can make something out of nothing, as everyone is well aware.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
