Leeds United beat Hull City 2-0 to go top of the Championship and stretch the gap with third-placed Fulham to 11 points with one player going under the radar somewhat during the clash.
The goalscoring was opened by Hull’s Jordy de Wijs, who turned past his own ‘keeper after a cross from the right-hand side from Helder Costa (via BBC).
It was doubled just under 10 minutes later after Ezgjan Alioski slotted home after Patrick Bamford had hit the post following a counter-attack from the Whites.
Kiko Casilla was at his superb best as he carried on where he left off from against Huddersfield Town, making two saves (via WhoScored). One of his saves was a stunning point-blank one from Hull’s Tom Eaves and that set-up the counter-attack for the second goal.
Luke Ayling was also in brilliant form as he was at the heart of everything good in defence, making the second-most tackles and joint-second most interceptions.
However, it was the £10.8m-rated, as per Transfermarkt, Costa, who managed to go under the radar with his performance in attack for the Elland Road outfit.
The Portuguese man was a threat in attack all evening as he had the joint-most shots (3) and played the joint-most key passes (2) of any Leeds player. He also completed the second-most dribbles (4).
Leeds Live agreed with this assessment of Costa’s performance as they gave him an eight out of 10, commenting on his lively performance.
They said: “Finally the night we have waited for. Looked lively from the first minute and had more space than ever before behind his left-back marker. Pace and timing critical to prying open the Hull goal late on.” (Source: Leeds Live)
