Leeds United managed to secure all three points against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last time out as they grabbed a late winner.
The Whites will be desperate to secure promotion to the Premier League in the current campaign having come on leaps and bounds under Marcelo Bielsa, with an automatic promotion place currently in their possession.
However, with the January transfer window on the horizon, Bielsa should turn his attention towards bringing in a number of reinforcements. One area that Leeds are lacking quality cover in is the middle of midfield, with Lewis Baker struggling to live up to expectations since joining on loan from Chelsea.
Indeed, the Whites should look no further than Yorkshire rivals Barnsley for a replacement, with former fan favourite Alex Mowatt catching the eye at Oakwell in the current campaign.
Sadly, the Englishman joined Barnsley for an undisclosed fee back in January of 2017, but he struggled to have any kind of impact during his first season at the club. But, since then he has come on leaps and bounds as one of the standout performers in League One this season.
Mowatt came up through the youth ranks at Leeds United and was tipped for big things after enjoying his breakthrough back in August of 2013. He went on to establish himself as a fan favourite during his time at Elland Road due to his incredible performances in the side and ability to find the back of the net from distance, but he fell down the pecking order and left the club midway through the 2016-17 season.
And, Bielsa was spotted at Barnsley’s match against Luton Town back in October, so he could be on Leeds United’s radar as the January transfer window approaches.
Mowatt did sign a new deal at Oakwell last month that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2020, but his new deal could mean nothing if the Whites look to firm up their potential interest in January.
