He’s not had the best of times at Leeds United, has he? When Izzy Brown arrived on a season-long loan from Chelsea in the summer, everyone was aware of the injury he obtained at that time, but no one thought he would be so heavily impacted by injuries as he has been during his time at Elland Road.
Brown’s move made sense in the summer. Barring Pablo Hernandez and Samu Saiz, the Whites had lacked a little bit of that creative spark in recent years and it was thought that when he was to return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Brown could supply this.
He has had a previous history with injuries, having missed a large chunk of the Premier League campaign when on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion last season. Though, despite his spell on the sidelines with his knee injury and then hamstring injury this season, when he has been fit, he has often be chosen for United’s under-23s.
The 22-year-old has made just the one cameo first-team appearance for United, having featured in the matchday squad a further seven times.
As his loan deal expires in the summer, that ponders the question as to what is next for Brown?
Well, Marcelo Bielsa could opt to rest some of his first-choice options in the United side and provide Brown with a chance to impress in the final game of the season if he is up to full fitness ahead of the play-offs. Though, that seems his only glimmer of hope in terms of whether United would look to bring him in on either another loan or a more permanent deal but even still that is very unlikely, as he has obviously not done enough to heavily impress in West Yorkshire.
The most likely scenario for Brown is that he will just have to put this season behind him and potentially go out on another loan next season to a Championship outfit, if no one comes in for him on a permanent basis, so he can get back to consistently performing when fully fit.
