The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been questioning the club’s decision to send out Paudie O’Connor on-loan. The young Irish defender signed a new deal with the club keeping him at Elland Road until 2020, but journalist Phil Hay has claimed that the defender is set to go on-loan to League One.

Paudi O’Connor isn’t a name that many Leeds fans would have expected to be in the first-team much this season, but they still would have wanted him at Elland Road and ready to be called upon. The Irishman has been over the club for little over a year after joining from Limerick back in March 2017. He made a total of four appearances for the Whites in their most recent campaign and could go on to star under Marcelo Bielsa’s tutelage.
With the club chasing the signature of at least one centre-back, it’s likely that O’Connor wouldn’t have go the game time that he needs to kick on and improve at the Yorkshire club anyway, but the fans are keen to see him stick around and muck in, competing for a spot in the first-team. Instead, they’re left with Liam Cooper at the back alongside Pontus Jansson until they can bring in a new signing and the fans aren’t best pleased with that.

Looking like cooper and Phillips will be the spine again

Really like O’Connor. The more he plays the better he will become so going out on loan is a good idea though I would have a release cause built in so if we have injuries, he would be needed and has a good future at Leeds. #lufc #MOT

Rather have O'Connor than cooper what is it with this infatuation with cooper 1 good game in 4 too inconsistent and please bielsa don't make him captain! Forshaw or ayling for captain IMO

Hopefully 48hr emergency release clause

Why loan, the lad looks ready for first team imo
Think that's a sensible deal too. 2 years with the option of a third. No need to go mad with these 4-year deals all over the place.

Whilst Paudie O’Connor is still raw as a player, the fans will be hoping that the loan move can improve him, as much as they’d rather keep him at Elland Road.
