All good things come to an end eventually, and for Luton Town, their unbeaten run was no exemption to the rule.
Their 3-1 loss to Charlton ended Luton’s club-record 28-game unbeaten run, and although it was a poor performance to end such an accomplishment on, the Hatters can take way more positives than negatives from the end of their undefeated streak, and it could be a blessing in disguise.
With each passing game that increased the unbeaten run, the pressure grew more and more intense for Luton to keep the streak going, but with the run now over and in the history books and only a few games of the season remaining, the Hatters could find themselves in a better place to go for the League One title without the stress of trying to keep the record going.
Luton’s remaining games are all winnable, and if Mick Harford is able to guide his team to six points from six over the Easter fixtures without any fuss, the London-based side will find themselves in their best position this season to win the League One title.
Losing any unbeaten run is hard for any side, but what Luton accomplished will go down in club history, and whether fans can admit to it or not, losing the streak now may be the best thing to happen to the team this season if they are able to bounce back immediately and seal two big wins over the Easter period.
