If there’s one thing Luton have been good at this season, it’s winning games, and their two games over Easter could all be seal promotion to the Championship.
It’s been a remarkable season for the Hatters, from losing manager Nathan Jones after an impressive first half of the campaign and his replacement Mick Harford doing an even better job to going a club-record 28 game unbeaten run, Luton have established themselves as one of the rising clubs in the English game, and now they have to finish the job.
Promotion to the second-tier is within touching distance, and although the Hatters tasted defeat for the first time in months last time around against Charlton, it is likely the club will bounce back against Accrington Stanley on Friday.
A win against the team 16th in the league table and not much to play for sounds very likely on the surface, but this is League One, and anything can happen in these games. Securing the three points against John Coleman’s side will set Luton up perfectly for their Tuesday night match against Wimbledon, who are fighting for their survival and have been a surprise team in the past few weeks.
With Barnsley under pressure from Sunderland and Portsmouth both catching up to them in second place, Luton now have the privilege of only focusing on themselves and the teams they face, and this will give the Hatters a significant advantage heading into the run-in.
Luton have been one of the most entertaining teams in English football this season, and now they have to finish the job and get promoted to the Championship, and that starts with winning their Easter games.
