Our Middlesbrough fans here in the Transfer Tavern want their club to sign some more players but, as quoted by The Evening Standard, Aitor Karanka hasn’t really ended the speculation over Adama Traore leaving.
Boro have had a pretty decent season so far and our landlord reckons they’ve got every chance of staying up this season.
Aitor Karanka has to be given credit, then, for the way he has worked and for who he has signed so far but our local Boro supporters are a little concerned with what he has said about their impressive winger.
Traore signed from Villa at the start of this season and has done well in the red of the Teeside club but when asked about a potential move to Chelsea, his Spanish manager hardly moved to halt such talk.
“If a team like Chelsea are following Adama it’s because his progress has been brilliant in six months and he’s doing well, but he’s young and the main thing he has to do is to keep going as football can change a lot.”
“He’s in a good moment now but with [new signing] Patrick [Bamford] here now, maybe other players arriving, maybe in two or three months he’s not playing and the Chelsea move disappears.”
To our landlord that almost sounds like Karanka would not get in the way of a move to Stamford Bridge should a concrete offer come in for the young winger.
Indeed, that’s what our Boro fans are thinking and so they hope the Blues do not act on these comments.
