Boro set for transfer tussle as Garry Monk continues Riverside rebuild

With Garry Monk at the helm and some impressive new signings already through the door, the Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited about next season.

Boro’s rather miserable relegation from the Premier League seems oh so long ago now and the fires of optimism have once again been lit and reports from the Daily Mirror have only furthered their excited. They claim the Riverside club are set for a transfer battle, over an England U20 World Cup hero.

Indeed, both they and Championship rivals Fulham are understood to be keen on bringing Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo in on loan. The winger, who impressed during the Young Lions’ historic World Cup win, is believed to have also been a target for Newcastle United, though they’ve seemingly not been able to convince the Reds to sell up.

The 20-year-old is said to be desperate for first-team football – something he stands a better chance of getting at his age in the second tier – and our resident Boro fans are hoping he opts for a move to Teesside, if he is to leave Anfield.

Having lacked goals and imagination last term, the idea of seeing Ojo arrive at the Riverside has excited the fans draped over our bar.
