Having already watched their side land the likes of Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford this month, the Middlesbrough fans have largely been delighted about the nature of their January business thus far.
Which is why our Teeside locals aren’t too fussed to hear a story on their official site revealing one of their players has agreed a move away from the club. They’ve revealed goalkeeper Brad Guzan has sealed a move to MLS side Atlanta United at the end of the season, signalling a return to America for the USA international.
The 32-year-old joined Aston Villa from Chivas USA back in 2008, making well over 100 appearances in the Premier League, though only three of them have come with Boro following his move to the North East over the course of the summer.
Our resident Boro fans are happy with idea of the likes of Victor Valdes, Dimitrios Konstantopoulos and Tomás Mejías (though he’s currently away on loan) competing between the sticks next term and have wished Guzan the best, hopefully enjoying his last few months in England.
“The chance for Guzan to return to the USA and continue his career has presented itself in recent weeks and, recognising the opportunity for him and his family, he will depart in the summer with the best wishes of all connected with Middlesbrough,” a club statement read.
