Middlesborough face anxious wait on trio

Middlesborough face anxious wait on trio - Championship

Middlesborough will be looking to continue their charge towards the summit of the Championship.

Tony Pulis’ side will know that they can go top of the division should they beat in-form Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night when the domestic football makes a return following the international break.

However, things could have been made even more difficult for the Riverside Stadium outfit ahead of the tricky test against the Owls, as they will face an anxious wait on the return of some of their players.

The Northern Echo are reporting that although Boro expect to have George Saville, Paddy McNair and Mo Besic all back, there is a doubt that any of them will make the game on Friday.

All three featured in Northern Ireland’s defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday and will need to convince Pulis that they are fully fit to go at it against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Verdict:

Pulis has already made his feelings clear about the match with Sheffield Wednesday being brought forward to the Friday.

Middlesborough are in a great position to take advantage at the top of the table and apply pressure to the rest of the division, however, the possibility of losing three key players due to the international break will not help their cause.

It will be an anxious couple of days for the club and they will be hopeful that the players will be able to make the match.
