Middlesborough team news: Pulis expected to rotate his squad for Crystal Palace visit

Middlesborough will look to overcome Crystal Palace on Wednesday night as they try to advance to the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

The Championship outfit will host their Premier League counterparts at the Riverside Stadium and will hope they can record a win against a side that has been struggling for form recently.

Boro have made an impressive start to their campaign, sitting in third just two points behind leaders Sheffield United, whilst the Selhurst Park outfit have found it difficult to pick up results this season.

Tony Pulis will meet the side that he once managed and could look to use it as an opportunity to hand some of his fringe men an outing, according to a report by Sports Mole.

As with the previous rounds, he has rotated his squad a number of times in the competition and it is unlikely that he will be different this time around.

That could mean starts for players like Grant Leadbitter and Danny Batth, whilst Ashley Fletcher is pushing for a return to action after he netted a hat-trick for the Under-23s last week.

Ryan Shotton remains Pulis’ only absentee as he continues to recover from a knee injury.

The Verdict:

Middlesbrough will have been boosted by the fact that they do not have any new injury concerns heading into the game against Crystal Palace.

With Pulis likely to make changes, it will give the likes of Leadbitter and Batth the chance they need to impress and push for more regular first-team football this season.

However, with the way the team is currently playing in the Championship, it is felt that they would need to put in some solid performances if they are to make that breakthrough in the near future.
