Middlesbrough fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are trying to work out whether the stories they are reading about their club chasing a former Real Madrid man are real, or if they have had one too many pints of TT Ale.
According to reports from Gazette Live, Boro boss, Aitor Karanka is attempting to bring in Alvaro Negredo on a season long loan from Valencia in the next couple of days.
The Spanish side bought the striker from Manchester City last summer for €28m, and were rumoured to be looking for a permanent sale this summer, however after a series of negotiations it looks as though it will initially be a loan deal, with the potential for an option to buy clause.
The 30-year-old first came to England when he joined City in 2013, and netted 23 goals in 48 games during his time in Lancashire.
However after falling out with then manager Manuel Pellegrini he was loaned out to Valencia with that deal being made permanent last summer.
The Spanish international will have a point to prove on his return to the Premier League, and having scored 208 goals in 485 total club appearances, this is that Boro fans will likely be excited about.
What do you think Middlesbrough fans?! A good move to try before you buy? And who else would you like to see make a move to The Riverside Stadium? Tell us what you think in the comments below…
