Middlesbrough fans look forward to versatile new signing McQueen

According to The BBC, Middlesbrough have signed Southampton defender Sam McQueen on a season long loan deal.

The 23-year-old only made a handful of appearances for The Saints last season in the Premier League, behind Ryan Bertrand in Mark Hughes’ ranks. Moving down to promotion hopefuls will be a great move to get some game time.

This is a brilliant signing, as this is a player that can play both at left-back and as a winger. This is a perfect answer to any injuries or problems that may occur throughout the season.

Many fans expect McQueen (valued at £900k on Transfermarkt.co.uk) to usurp current left-back George Friend as the season progresses, but what most fans were surprised by was how The Boro managed to keep this deal quiet. Whilst rumours about other players have swirled over the last few days, this one crept under the radar.

Southampton fans have also taken to Twitter to congratulate Middlesbrough on the good signing.
