The Middlesbrough fans in The Transfer Tavern are gathered at the bar discussing reports the club’s move for a prolific Championship striker is back on.
The Football League paper’s official Twitter page has claimed some reports state that the club’s move for Blackburn Rovers Jordan Rhodes is back on, although they do not mention to the source of those reports.
A bid was agreed between the two sides of around £9 million but, according to the Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson, the goal posts were moved by Rhodes and his team when it came to agreeing terms, which encouraged the Middlesbrough hierarchy to pull out of the deal.
It now seems a though a change of heart from the Rhodes camp will see the deal resurrected and the deal could now be completed by tonight’s 11pm deadline.
The news will delight manager Aitor Karanka who made Rhodes his top target and will be keen to get the deal completed to add Rhodes to his promotion hopefuls.
As for the Middlesbrough fans in The Tavern they are delighted with the news and hope terms between the two parties can be agreed swiftly.
