The Middlesbrough fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports surrounding the future of one of their key players from last season’s side.
According to reports in the Shields Gazette, the newly promoted Premier League side have insisted that striker Jordan Rhodes will not be leaving the club this summer.
Speculation was rife on Sunday that the club were looking to sell the striker who they signed from Blackburn Rovers for £9 million in January, in a bid to free up funds for next season.
The prolific striker had a slow start to life on Teeside, though ended the season strongly with six goals in 18 appearances, five of which came during the last eight games of the season as the club secured a dramatic return to the top flight.
The club reportedly made £170 million by gaining promotion to the Premier League and club owner Steve Gibson has vowed to put every penny back into squad strengthening to give Aitor Karanka and his side the best possible chance of survival.
Can Rhodes replicate his scoring feats in the Premier League?
