Middlesbrough team news: Braithwaite may miss crucial Leeds clash

Middlesbrough will meet Leeds United at Elland Road on Friday night as they look to take control of the Championship.

Tony Pulis’ side currently sit second in the table, with goal difference keeping the sides separate, and he will be looking for his side to compete against the Whites.

And, according to a match preview by Sky Sports, the Riverside outfit could look to field a similar side to the one that beat West Bromwich Albion last week.

However, one man that may not feature for Boro could be Martin Braithwaite as his future at the club remains in doubt.

It is understood that the attacker has asked to leave the club this summer amid interest from Spanish sides Leganes and Girona thought to be interested in the Denmark international.

Jordan Hugill could then be used to lead the line on the night, as the West Ham United loanee looks to get back to playing regular football.

It is unlikely that another loanee will feature for Middlesbrough, with Sam McQueen having only just completed a temporary switch from Southampton.

The Verdict:

Middlesbrough will be looking to capitalise on the fact that Leeds lost their first game of the season in midweek to Preston North End.

However, it could be a difficult task for Pulis’ side as Marcelo Bielsa is expected to make a number of changes to his starting XI for the game.

But, the possible absence of Braithwaite could be a huge blow to the Riverside Stadium outfit as he has already proven key in front of goal.
