Monk keen on adding another Premier League talent to Boro’s promotion cause

It’s been a productive summer for the Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern since their relegation from the Premier League.

After such a dismal campaign in the top tier last season, the Boro-mad punters propping up our bar have been delighted to see Garry Monk splash the cash as the club chase an instant return to the proverbial Promised Land.

The signings of Britt Assombalonga, Jonny Howson and Martin Braithwaite have seriously impressed our locals and reports from TEAMtalk today have only furthered their excitement. They claim Monk is keen on beating former club Leeds United to the signing of Liverpool winger Ryan Kent on loan as he looks to introduce more width to his side.

Jurgen Klopp is understood to be willing to allow the 20-year-old out on loan again and Boro are thought to grown frustrated in their reported pursuit of teammate, Shey Ojo.

Ojo is not yet thought to have made a decision on his future amid reported interest from Newcastle United and other Championship clubs, so Monk is said to have turned his attentions to Kent.

A move to Elland Road has previously been touted for the winger, though Middlesbrough would reportedly ideally like him before their season opener against Wolves this weekend.

Landlord’s Verdict

Already strong promotion favourites in the Tavern, Middlesbrough landing Kent for the season would only strengthen their cause for an instant return to the Premier League.

Now they have some firepower to shout about, the youngster can help provide the service to restore top flight to the Riverside.
