Though they sit just four points above the relegation zone, the Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern have largely been delighted about the nature of their first Premier League campaign in years.
Aitor Karanka’s side look solid enough in pretty much every aspect, so the idea of seeing a flair player arrive to light up a misty Teeside this month is warming their cockles as they prop up the bar. Which is why reports emanating out of France have proved so exciting today.
According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are keen on loaning forward Jese Rodriguez to Boro, who are said to have held an interest in the Spaniard. He came through the ranks at Real Madrid – where Karanka served as assistant manager – though has since his progress stall since a long-term injury while with Los Blancos.
The 23-year-old is understood to want to leave the French capital just a few months after he joined the Ligue 1 champions, reportedly attracting interest from both Las Palmas and the North East. For their part, top brass at the Parc de Princes are said to favour sending him to the Premier League on loan, rather than the Canary Islands for fear he’d be tempted into the party lifestyle.
As you can imagine, the notion of his arrival at the Riverside has had them dreaming.
Would Jese suit the Premier League? Let us know below…
