Pulis remains coy on potential tactical switch as Middlesbrough prepare for Aston Villa

Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern will be concerned that they could be facing the end of their promotion charge following their 1-0 defeat in the first-leg.

Boro were beaten by a single Mile Jedinak goal that gave Aston Villa the victory at The Riverside Stadium – a result which could force Tony Pulis into making a change by utilising both Patrick Bamford and Britt Assombalonga upfront.

Assombalonga started the first leg, however, there has been talk that Bamford could be used instead to see if it will make a difference against Villa’s experienced back line, although Pulis remains coy on what he will do.

“I’ll have a look at it today and have a chat with the staff. If I decide to make changes, it’ll be the players that know first,” he told the Northern Echo.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern will know that it is an all-or-nothing game and will be urging Pulis to consider using both strikers against Villa.

The fans were disappointed with their side’s failure to score a single goal in the first-leg despite recording twice the amount of shots that Villa managed throughout the game, and they will be hoping their side can make the most of their opportunities during the next 90 minutes of football later this evening.
