Tony Pulis looking to offload four Middlesbrough players - Championship

Tony Pulis is thought to be keen on bringing new additions to Middlesbrough this winter as they look to mount a challenge for promotion.

Rajiv van La Parra is the only player to have arrived at The Riverside Stadium this January so far.

However, if Pulis wants more men, it is believed he will need to make some adjustments to his current squad in order for that to happen.

According to a report by The Northern Echo, Boro could look to offload up to four of their high-earners in order to free up some financial room.

Grant Leadbitter, Ashley Fletcher, Rudy Gestede and Britt Assombalonga are all names that have been suggested as potential men that could make way from Teesside.

But, it could be a case of easier said than done for the Championship outfit, with none of the players expected to attract interest from Premier League sides.

The Verdict:

Middlesbrough will want to be able to make additions to their squad this January as they look to make a push for promotion in the final stages of the season.

Fletcher, Gestede and Leadbitter all make sense as they have been on the fringes of first-team action, however, it may be difficult to find a buyer for each of them with just over a week of the transfer window left open.

Assombalonga has been in good form in front of goal, especially given their troubles scoring regularly, which makes a possible departure a little interesting.
