Nottingham Forest fans in the Tavern are hoping the club will continue their revamp with some new signings in the summer after Aitor Karanka added over ten new players to his squad in January.
Languishing in 17th in the table, Forest are in desperate need of some new signings if they are to compete for promotion to the Premier League next campaign.
Forest legend, Kenny Burns, believes the club should make a move for Middlesbrough left-back George Friend when the window reopens. Still, Boro are unlikely to allow Friend to leave the club without receiving a hefty fee for his services which could scupper the deal.
Instead, Forest should look at another Middlesbrough left-back – Fabio.
The Brazilian was signed from Cardiff City for £2m incidentally by Karanka and became a key player for Spaniard until he was sacked and replaced by Tony Pulis. Since the arrival of Pulis, Fabio has fallen down the pecking order with the Welshman favouring a more physical defender across the back four.
The full-back is valued at just over £1.35m by Transfermarkt, but his contract expires at the end of the season meaning Forest would acquire him for nothing.
Fabio is a Premier League winner with Manchester United and has worked with Karanka in the past so certainly would arrive at the City Ground with a certain degree of pedigree. Indeed, he could be a real coup for Forest and save some vital transfer funds to be reinvested in other areas of the squad.
Forest fans, would Fabio be a good signing? Let us know!
