Sabri Lamouchi has only been at the City Ground for a matter of months but he has made considerable changes to his squad, signing 15 players across two transfer windows as well as letting 16 players leave on a permanent basis.
It is possible the same could happen in the summer as a few players are out of contract, perhaps none more notable than vice-captain Ben Watson. The midfielder has huge experience in the game but he will be 35 by the time next season rolls around, although some fans are confident that he could continue to deliver despite that.
There has been some talk about whether Watson deserves a renewal, and another factor worth considering is the fact Forest also don’t know in which division they will be playing. However, Watson hasn’t missed a league game this campaign and that suggests that he is highly regarded by Lamouchi, and could therefore be kept on regardless.
Some of the debate about the former Wigan player and the possibility of a new contract can be found below, with differing opinions being raised on whether he has performed to a high enough standard to deserve a renewal.
On current form SL is 100% correct, all #nffc efforts should be focused on making the playoffs first, talking about new contracts etc can wait until the summer, with only 12 games left, a run of 1 win in 5 needs to be turned around quickly.

If we go up Watson will have made a massive contribution, same with Ameobi. And if we dont go up this year both will contribute next year. So both should get year extensions now imo. We can always loan them out if we go up so no brainer they need rewarding

Why not, been consistently good, only a couple of average performances

No because the league would be to much of a stretch for him. Good player in championship doesnt convert to premier league

I would say yes. Currently Sow is fragile so if we do go up and get another DMF Sow and Watson could alternate

So Forest fans does Watson deserve a new deal? Or is it best to wait and see whether the club will be promoted first? Let us know your thoughts below!
