Nottingham Forest have simply not picked up enough wins as they lack a real cutting edge that could lead them towards a play-off bid.
As one of the highest spenders in the Championship this season, it will be a disappointment for fans to still be seeing their team failing to launch a push for at least the play-offs.
With great talent and a manager who knows the league well in Aitor Karanka, Nottingham Forest really could be doing better and could with a few additions in the January transfer market.
Goalscoring has been an issue despite having Murphy and Grabban, so finding a young, pacey forward like Emmanuel Dennis would be a good deal to pursue for Forest.
Dennis, (who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt) is a youngster potentially on the verge of great things. The 20-year-old plays for Club Brugge and is a versatile frontman with electric pace, something that could potentially be amazing in the Championship.
Predominantly used as a winger this season, Dennis has scored two goals in the Belgian Pro League and has become a real problem for defenders to deal with.
Nottingham Forest don’t have much pace between their two out-and-out strikers and that is an issue Emmanuel Dennis’ arrival would solve. Forest still have a big club mentality but for too long they’ve been absent from the top flight but with additions such as Emmanuel Dennis with the future in mind is only a good idea and a deal that could work out brilliantly.
They face an array of quality opponents in the Championship this season but Forest, if they spend their money right, can get the adequate tools to reach the Premier League.
