Nottingham Forest have been a mixed bag in the current campaign as they just can’t seem to ensure any consistency.
Forest would have set their sights on a play-off spot prior to the beginning of the current campaign, but their targets are slowly slipping away from them after a disappointing start. Indeed, Aitor Karanka’s side often follow up a positive result with a bad one as they continue to slide down the table.
Indeed, the Spaniard hasn’t been able to get his messages through to his players in recent matches and his matchday preparation has been questionable.
With that being said, here’s a look at TWO of Karanka’s biggest blunders…
Nottingham Forest were on the receiving end of a 2-1 defeat against Brentford last time out, with Aitor Karanka’s management coming into question.
Indeed, Forest were played off the park in the first half as only a couple of players listened to his instructions and put his plans into place. Instead of pressing high up the pitch and trying to force mistakes from Brentford to hassle them into making an error – as they had been told to do – they sat back on the edge of their own box and tried to defend.
So, in an unforgiving Championship division that takes no prisoners, to be successful you have to make harsh decisions and punish players if they aren’t pulling their weight. But, the Forest boss doesn’t appear to have things under control as the players aren’t fully committed.
Player management and preparation
The Forest boss’ management and desire has come into question on a number of occasions so far this season.
Indeed, Nottingham Forest have been slow starters in a few Championship fixtures, conceding in the fifth minute against Bristol City, the second minute against Wigan Athletic and the 21st minute against Birmingham City.
Aitor Karanka needs to be able to prepare his players to hit the ground running from the off in all of their matches as they’ve dropped a number of points due to poor match preparation and mental readiness so far this season.
