Nottingham Forest: Fans react to Matty Cash being picked in the team of the week again
Matty Cash has enjoyed a brilliant campaign at right-back for Nottingham Forest and his recent display against Cardiff was recognised with a selection in the WhoScored team of the week.
It is little surprise for fans, as such an event has become typical of the 23-year-old’s season. Sabri Lamouchi deserves credit not just for adjusting his position but for the trust he has placed in the young player, as he and the team are now reaping the rewards.
Some supporters are calling for Cash to win the Championship Player of the Year, and although it would be some achievement if a full-back did win, Cash cannot be ruled out of the running due to his consistency and 7.28 average WhoScored rating.
Against Cardiff he proved that he should be a candidate with a brilliant first-half tackle on Josh Murphy when he was clear in the box to score, with the right-back just getting enough on the ball to prevent either a goal or a penalty in what proved to be a terrific tackle.
