Nottingham Forest fans are buzzing over the club’s latest #FreeKickFriday Twitter post, this week featuring a 2010 stunner from Lewis McGugan.
The goal came from Forest’s 2-0 win over Ipswich Town back in the 2010/11 season, with David McGoldrick opening up the scoring and McGugan rounding off the match in superb style.
The Englishman stepped up to take his side’s free-kick which he hammered into the back of the net with a rocket in his boot.
McGugan made 224 appearances for Forest, scoring 43 goals and assisting 27 before he moved to Watford on a free transfer in 2013 (via Transfermarkt).
Will Nottingham Forest be promoted this season?
Reds fans are absolutely loving the throwback goal, with many flocking to relive the moment and show their appreciation for the sheer brilliance of the McGugan strike. One supporter has said ‘imagine if Ronaldo scored this’ as others state that it’s the best goal they’ve ever seen live. Here’s some of the best replies to the goal:
Still the best free kick to ever be scored in my opinion.
