If we’ve learned one thing from this Forest collapse, it’s that they need more firepower! Indeed, Lewis Grabban has been good, but Lawrence Shankland can give him a much-needed hand in front of goal.
Forest now sit over 10 points off the play-offs, so it’s time to plan for another promotion push next season, whether Martin O’Neill is the manager or not. The Express (via the Scottish Sun) claimed back in February that the club are interested in bringing Ayr United’s Shankland to the City Ground.
He’s scored a whopping 33 goals and assisted eight in this season’s Scottish Championship, so if that’s not enough to excite the Forest faithful, I don’t know what is. Yes, it’s at a much lower level, but he can certainly finish, and that’s what they need.
Lewis Grabban has scored 17 goals this season, and that’s one great return, but the rest of the squad just aren’t helping him out. The second top scorer is Joe Lolley on just nine, so the team can’t only rely on him to earn promotion.
Shankland would make a great partner for Grabban up top, and if the manager wants to play one up front, it means one can be rested and be fit for the next game. To be promoted, teams need depth and for goals to come from more than just one forward.
Forest fans expect the club to add more firepower to the squad in summer, and a risk-free signing of soon-to-be free agent Shankland would fit the bill perfectly.
It’s time for Grabban to get some help up there!
