Nottingham Forest must not let West Brom sign Kemar Roofe

Nottingham Forest recently announced the signing of striker Lewis Grabban from Bournemouth.

Grabban’s arrival has got a great deal of Forest fan’s excited, which is understandable given the former Bournemouth man’s Championship goalscoring pedigree.

They’ll need more firepower up top if they want to make themselves serious title challengers though.

According to Football Insider, West Brom are targeting Leeds’ Kemar Roofe this summer. Forest should seriously consider keeping their spending going and trying to hijack the Baggies’ move to make Kemar Roofe their’s.

The Breakdown

The Nottingham Forest front line is coming together for the new season, but it isn’t quite there yet. If Roofe were to join the likes of Grabban and Ben Brereton amongst Aitor Karanka’s ranks then the Reds’ would truly have an attacking force to be feared.

Having quality across the board is vital to sustaining a successful promotion push. The arrival of Roofe would bring his versatility to bear on this squad. Throughout the season, as individuals pick up injuries, suspensions or lose form, having Roofe able to fill in effectively on the flanks or through the middle could prove invaluable.

The 25-year-old also suits Karanka’s preferred style of play as his pace makes him a potent weapon when executing swift counterattacks. The English attacker also brings all important end product to the table, as his 11 league strikes and 3 assists during the course of the last campaign proves.

Roofe is valued at £3 million by Transfermarkt, but Forest would likely have to outbid West Brom to gain his signature. Failing to pay his price though could cost them Premier League football next season.
