Well, this is disappointing. Nottingham Forest now seem to have completely blown their chances at reaching the play-offs this season. That was fun while it lasted, right?
When Martin O’Neill arrived, the hope was that he would have the ability to help them achieve their goal but that’s something he has failed at the first time of asking. Great.
Still, should Forest continue to entrust him, O’Neill could deliver success given the right tools to do so over the summer period.
A similar chunk of money must be made available like it was last summer, should Nottingham Forest take their promotion push seriously. Though one key deal they should make will only cost a loan fee and despite only playing four times this season, Sam Byram is a player Forest must keep at the City Ground.
Byram, (who is valued at £3.6 million on Transfermarkt) made his highly anticipated return from injury in the week and the fantastic performance he put in shows exactly why Nottingham Forest should risk extending his loan agreement.
Injury problems have been a feature of Sam Byram’s career as a footballer thus far but when he does play, it wouldn’t be wrong to argue he is one of the best in the division. He is a hard-worker that never gives up despite his setbacks and most importantly, he can make a difference to Nottingham Forest if given the chance there once again.
Surely out of the loop in East London, as they reportedly (as per Football Insider) line up moves for the likes of Nathaniel Clyne, West Ham are extremely unlikely to include him within their plans for next campaign and so a deal may be a lot easier to push through than first anticipated.
If they can, Forest could be in for a real treat next season.
