It has been revealed that Nottingham Forest submitted a bid for Ligue 2 defender Oumar Gonzalez in January.
After FC Chambly president Fulvio Luzi spoke to Le Parisien, it surfaced that the Nottinghamshire outfit were amongst those to register official interest in the Cameroonian (via Sport Witness).
“Many English sides are interested, including one currently looking to go up to the Premier League. We’ll look at the offer. We’ll talk about it with Oumar. For now, they’re just contacts”.
A reported ‘seven figure offer’ had been put on the table by Forest, which shows Sabri Lamouchi must be eager to bring him to England see him link up with the rest of the team.
Will Matty Cash become a Nottingham Forest legend?
At the start of the year, Luzi alluded that Chambly would ‘struggle to keep hold’ of Gonzalez who has reportedly attracted interest from other clubs, including teams from Serie A and the Super Lig.
If funds are low for the French side, offloading an up and coming ace could be a good option in making back some transfer window money. As it stands, Forest are fifth in the table and will qualify for a spot in the play-offs, where promotion is a very possible outcome.
Gonzalez said: “It’s true that England is a league I appreciate a lot. It’s my style in terms of duels, contact. It’s one of my dreams to play over there, but I’m under contract with FC Chambly”.
There’s been no talks of a further bid from Forest but if Lamouchi is serious about acquiring the 22-year-old, he could be joining the City Ground this summer.
