Nottingham Forest moved closer to the top two at the weekend with another win as they beat Luton Town 3-1 in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Reds knew that a win could pile the pressure on the leading sides in the league with Leeds United losing Saturday lunchtime and West Brom not playing until this evening.
And that’s what they did, eventually, with a 3-1 win over Luton with Joe Lolley excelling as he scored two goals.
The winger was criticised at the start of this season for not performing at the level fans felt that he could but all players go through such patches and it looks as though that has passed now.
Indeed, the winger has impressed in recent weeks and certainly did so yesterday afternoon with his brace as he came off to a standing ovation at the City Ground.
With that in mind, then, let’s take a look at the praise he’s earned on Twitter in light of the performance:
Joe Lolley you mad lad #nffc

Today Lolly showed why he is almost priceless and the right decision not to sell him last summer. These decisions can make or break a promotion challenge. Well done Forest and Mr. Marinakis.

One of the best I’ve seen #nffc play at home this season. Equaliser was pivotal, but after 30 realised we were the better footballing side and got it on the floor. Sow grew into game and Lolley with Cash wide right were excellent attacking. Nice to finally control a game sensibly

Great to see Lolley back to his best today💥 need more of that if were to have any chance of going up. Definitely need another winger. Win on Wednesday and it puts us in a good position for a tough run in early Feb #NFFC pic.twitter.com/9CS7EKrwNv

Getting Lolley back to his best will be like signing a new player. Been massively missed whilst out of form. Still our only player who can run at full backs and beat a man. #NFFC

Thought Lolley & Cash were outstanding today. Lolley looked to be back to his very best, Cash defensive work was superb #NFFC
