O’Neill must start Murphy and Janko today - Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest will be desperate to hit the front later on today after failing to secure a single point against Reading in Aitor Karanka’s last outing as Forest boss.

The Midlands club now find themselves under the guidance of former Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill, which will be sure to delight fans as he’s a club legend in the eyes of many. Angelos Marinakis will be hoping that a dominant performance in today’s game will make his decision to appoint the 66-year-old look magical.

Although, the Northern Irishman faces a tough test in his first game in charge as Forest will welcome Bristol City to the City Ground in their next Championship fixture. The Robins have won their last four games in all competitions and they are unbeaten in their last 10 fixtures, so O’Neill is facing a tall order.

Nevertheless, O’Neill will send the City Ground into a frenzy if this PAIR excel today…

Daryl Murphy hasn’t been able to hit the front in the current campaign as he currently only has five goals and three assists to his name. However, with his former Republic of Ireland boss now in charge at the City Ground, perhaps he will start to go up a few gears.

Bristol City are a physical side who like to bully the opposition off the ball, so Murphy’s presence in the final third could prove crucial, with the ability to flick the ball on for any onrushing attackers.

Saidy Janko has found himself living life on the substitutes’ bench in recent times after a rather successful start to life at Nottingham Forest towards the start of the current campaign.

Indeed, the right-back lost out to Tendayi Darikwa during Aitor Karanka’s reign at the City Ground, but the 27-year-old was given his marching orders last time out against Reading.

Therefore, the Swiss defender will inevitably be called into action and could even secure a permanent place in the side if he manages to impress new boss Martin O’Neill.
