Roy Keane and Brian Clough are two iconic figures in the game, and although their level of achievement while at Nottingham Forest may not be equal, both are still held in high regard.
There are countless hilarious but shocking stories about the former manager and footage of Keane speaking about one which is likely to raise a few eyebrows has recently emerged. In a discussion about the modern game and how current players expect to be treated, the former Manchester United star revealed that he was once punched in the face by Clough after a match.

If that wasn’t startling enough, he also admits that he accepted it and didn’t complain one bit, suggesting that he still held the view that Clough was a “brilliant manager” despite the way he was treated. Keane’s admission (tweeted out by the Nottingham Forest Archive) shows a stark contrast between the current game and how it was then and there seems to be a belief that the former Ireland international thinks there is a time and a place for harsh treatment.
Here is some of the reaction from Forest fans to the story.
So refreshing, wish football was still like this. Both legends
