These two Nottingham Forest players seriously need to impress Aitor Karanka in pre-season

Nottingham Forest have been in free spending mood this summer, and Forest fans in the Transfer Tavern will be entering the coming season in a positive mood.

Karanka has been given something of a war chest in this transfer window. The club have recently had a £6m bid for AFC Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban accepted.

Nottingham Forest’s spending is thought to somewhat mirror the spending of Wolverhampton Wanderers last season. With the big money spent on Portuguese imports, it is easy to see where the comparisons come from.

The East Midlands club have brought in Joao Carvalho for a club record £13m from Benfica.

The City ground outfit can also count experienced Costel Pantillimon and Michael Dawson amongst their new recruits.

With that in mind, here are two players who need to impress Forest boss Karanka during pre-season…

Adlène Guedioura

Guedioura is now 32, and Aitor Karanka could be forgiven for thinking for thinking Guedioura’s past powers are behind him.

With just eleven appearances in the Championship last season, Adlene has to prove himself in pre-season to be anywhere near Karanka’s plans for next season.

Apostolos Vellios

With the level of talent in the Nottingham Forest, several players will be feeling the pressure in pre-season to prove they are worthy of a place in the starting eleven.
None more so than the Greek. With Twelve Championship appearances last term and just One goal, he will surely be feeling the pressure to impress in pre-season.
