Massimo Luongo celebrated his 27th birthday on 25th September, and one of his former clubs took to social media to wish him many happy returns.
The Australian midfielder played for Queens Park Rangers between 2015-2019 and made 152 appearances whilst at Loftus Road. He was a good servant for the West London side, and chipped in with 10 goals and 16 assists during his time there.
Luongo decided to leave the club in the summer to join Sheffield Wednesday, where he has struggled to make an impact as of yet. Indeed he has not started a single league game for the Owls so far, although he has played 90 minutes in both of their Carabao Cup games against Rotherham United and Everton respectively.
The fact that he opted to leave QPR in the summer hasn’t stopped the R’s from wishing him happy birthday though.
In a post on their official Twitter account, QPR wrote: “Happy Birthday to former #QPR midfielder Mass Luongo!”
It would be fair to say that the post got a mixed response from the Rangers faithful. Whilst most supporters joined in the goodwill towards Luongo, others couldn’t resist having a sly dig at the Aussie for moving to Hillsborough.
Here’s what a few QPR fans had to say in response to the club wishing Luongo a happy birthday…
Happy birthday Mass
